The regional network of policy coordinators and local experts discussed today in Belgrade the state of the art of Integrated Planning System (IPS) in the Western Balkans to build a foundation for the strategic, legal, and institutional aspects of the methodology for developing the overarching regional Study on IPS. They discussed the drafted questionnaire prepared by the lead expert and shortly presented state of the art in integrated planning systems in the Western Balkans. Finally, they agreed on future work and a timetable for developing the Study.
This Study is a logical step forward in creating substantial and consistent policies that are affordable, economically efficient, and financially sustainable.
IPS supports the governments in more accessible and faster achievements of the priorities related to entry and membership in the European Union and ensures that all public policies are developed, budgeted, implemented, communicated, and appropriately monitored. It also supports the transposition and implementation of the EU Acquis in all sectors, helping to integrate and coordinate public investments from the domestic budget with EU support and other international development partners' funds.
Within Policy Development and Coordination thematic area, ReSPA pays special attention to the functioning of the IPS in Western Balkans administrations. In previous years, by developing national studies on policy coordination, ReSPA established the regional network of policy coordinators and started with the implementation of a long-term and comprehensive regional academy on the evidence-based policymaking process.
