"Sustainability Transition and the Role of Green Public Procurement" – Continuation of the capacity-building and mobility programme crafted with Italian institutions
25 September 2024, online
ReSPA continued to implement a comprehensive capacity-building and mobility program in collaboration with the National School of Public Administration (SNA) and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
In a dynamic session titled "Sustainability Transition and the Role of Green Public Procurement," over 60 public servants and practitioners from the Western Balkans engaged deeply in exploring topics such as Green Public Administration, green procurement, sustainability transition, resource scarcity, and the circular economy.
Led by Prof. Matteo Mura, Associate Professor at the University of Bologna, the session underscored the pivotal role of public administrations as drivers of sustainability transition. Through the adoption of Green Public Procurement (GPP), governments not only mitigate the environmental impact of public spending but also set benchmarks for sustainable practices across society.
This interactive virtual discussion equipped participants with practical tools and strategies to advance sustainable governance, reaffirming the crucial role of public institutions in fostering greener futures.
The session was organized as part of a multi-module capacity-building and mobility program funded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. The program will culminate in a Closing Conference in Italy in the coming months.
