Following the series of capacity-building activities organized during September 2023 - February 2024, in partnership with the DG Translation (DGT) of the European Commission, DGT has extended an invitation to you (Heads of the TCUs), to participate and contribute to the “Translating Europe Forum 2024” (TEF2024). The motto of this year's TEF will be: Words matter – in texts, but also as linguistic data and in term bases. ReSPA, as a trusted partner of DGT will also attend the Forum, as well as support the participation of the public servants from the region to attend.  TEF2024 will be organized in Brussels, Belgium from 6 to 8 November 2024.

THE PROGRAMME: TEF2024 will tackle key questions surrounding the evolving role of language professionals in a data-driven world. How can they make the best use of the vast data and tools available? The impact of Generative AI on the translation profession will be a central theme, prompting discussions on whether professionals should rethink how they brand themselves in this shifting landscape. The forum will also explore how AI can assist with terminology management and, conversely, how robust terminology practices can support AI's effectiveness. Finally, participants will examine where terminology fits into the broader translation workflow, offering insights into optimizing the integration of these tools and strategies.

Representatives from WBs TCUs and ReSPA will be contributing to one of the Panels of the Forum: Building translation capacity in the candidate countries: new opportunities for the language industry?

A side meeting of the Heads of TCUs with the Director General for Translation, Mr. Christos Ellinides and the DGT Team is also planned for 6 November at 18.00.
