ReSPA and SIGMA are organizing the regional high-level Conference on Parliaments and Evidence-based Lawmaking in the Western Balkans on 17-18 October 2024 in Rome, Italy.

With the support of the Italian Parliament's Chamber of Deputies and the European Commission (DG NEAR), the Conference will bring together eminent speakers composed of senior officials and experts from the Italian Chamber of Deputies, the European Commission, the European Parliament Research Services, ReSPA, and SIGMA experts. Participants - Secretaries-General and heads of parliamentary institutes/research services, as well as senior officials involved in government legislative planning and coordination from the centers of government from all Western Balkan administrations - will have an opportunity to discuss the key challenges for ensuring evidence-based parliamentary scrutiny of lawmaking and effective coordination and planning of legislative work between parliament and government administrations in the Western Balkans.

The Conference will also provide an excellent platform to share experience, knowledge and best practices of other parliaments and administrations in planning, preparing and scrutinising good-quality laws and using new approaches and technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI)  in lawmaking.
