ReSPA Director Met with Ministers Dukaj and Grubeša: Highest-level Political Buy-in Toward Lasting Public Administration Reforms
Deepening the regional dialogue and political commitment at the highest level in the Western Balkans, and cooperating with the EU towards modernized, resilient, transparent, and citizen-centred public administrations. This was the main takeaway at today's two consecutive meetings between ReSPA Director Maja Handjiska-Trendafilova and Marash Dukaj, newly appointed Minister of Public Administration of Montenegro, and Josip Grubeša, Minister of Justice of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
"In view of high political and economic uncertainty, ReSPA stays determined to support the Western Balkan governments in reforming the public administration in a forthright manner. We will continue to assist our Members through regional collaboration, networking, peer-learning, on-demand support, topical comparative assessments, technical assistance and mobility instruments that ReSPA deploys in an effort to contribute to a more efficient and resilient public sector" emphasized Maja Handjiska-Trendafilova.
In that sense, Handjiska-Trendafilova referred to the importance of the forthcoming Western Balkans PAR High-level Conference as an important milestone and impetus for the further development of innovative, effective, and inclusive governance systems that meet citizens' and businesses' expectations.
The meetings were also an opportunity to stress the importance of showcasing exemplary transformation initiatives and best practices in the region through the Public Administration Awards initiative implemented by ReSPA, whose second edition has been launched recently.
Ministers Dukaj and Grubeša praised ReSPA for being a significant reform and change agent in the area of PAR in the Western Balkans over the decade. They also expressed expectations for ReSPA to further tailor its programme to meet the specific needs of the civil servants caused by the digital transition and support the capacities at the local level as well as "contributing to building an effective governance that will provide the best possible solution for our citizens".
