ReSPA Open Day in Sarajevo: Regional Cooperation is the Key to Delivering Concrete Results in PAR Agenda

23 February 2023 News

Sarajevo - ReSPA 2023 Open Days, scheduled for each ReSPA Member, started today in Bosnia and Herzegovina - our Chairmanship Member.

"With the newly signed EC Grant, ReSPA stands fully committed to supporting the PAR agenda and delivering results to the benefit of our citizens. With ReSPA Open Days 2023, we want to share our vision and offer avenues to concrete actions and initiatives in building resilient, transparent and professional public administration which nurtures its employees and works for the citizens. In shaping our activities, we want to turn ReSPA's motto into reality - to listen and work jointly with our stakeholders. Delivering results ahead of us will not be possible without strong regional collaboration between all our Members and PAR actors and with the support of the European Commission, of which I have no doubt," emphasised Maja Handjiska-Trendafilova, ReSPA Director.

ReSPA programme managers presented ReSPA's programmatic focus 2023-2025 - a blend of thematic and horizontal activities, direct support instruments, and flagship regional conferences - proving the ubiquitous attention to deliver more dynamic, innovative and human-centred activities. The diverse and ambitious Programme of Work for 2023, composed of more than 30 regional capacity development and networking activities, was also presented to public servants from Bosnia and Hercegovina. Participants provided their recommendations and insights for further tailoring specific activities emphasising the necessity to boost topics such as foresight capacities, communicating the EU accession process, linkages among strategic planning and donor coordination, the impact of EU accession at the local level, etc.

Within re-shaped thematic areas, ReSPA aims to foster the region in policy development and coordination processes and its accelerated European integration, focusing on human capital and digitalisation.

"The executive training targeting the EU accession teams, the second module of Academy on the evidence-based policy planning, further development of Regional Quality Management Centre, various regional thematic workshops and training on EU accession process and interoperability, seasonal schools on EU integration and digitalisation, eGov pilots, working visits to EU Member states, development of research documents, piloting of staff satisfaction survey are just some of the activities ahead of us. Development of the innovative PAR Knowledge platform is also one of the activities we will focus on jointly with our stakeholders. In parallel, we are upgrading our direct support activities such as On-demand support (former In-Country Support Mechanism), Mobility scheme and ReSPA horizontal facility, which are already now available to be exploited," said Genti Xhaxhiu, ReSPA Programme Coordinator.

ReSPA Open Days will continue in the following weeks in Skopje, Tirana, Belgrade and Podgorica.
