ReSPA Contributes to the 2024 Annual Meeting of the OECD Network of Schools of Government

The ReSPA attended and contributed to the "Transforming the Public Sector" 2024 Annual Meeting of the OECD Network of Schools of Government, held on 28-29 May 2024.

The first day's agenda focused on several pivotal topics. The Plenary Session on "Leading Transformation" emphasized the necessity of forming capable executive groups to lead public service transformation. This session brought together public servants, experts and leaders to discuss innovative methods for developing civil service leadership and the critical role of senior executive groups within administrations.

The afternoon session, "Workforce Transformation – AI and Demographics," explored the profound impacts of AI and changing workforce demographics on the public service sector. Discussions highlighted the need for comprehensive upskilling and reskilling initiatives to adapt to these changes. Participants shared insights on how schools and governments are responding to these trends, emphasizing the importance of preparing the workforce for future challenges.

On the second day, the focus shifted to transforming learning systems. The session on "Learning Systems Transformation – Innovating for Results" delved into the evolving educational frameworks that prioritize informal and experiential learning, skill diversification, and real-world applicability. This session also examined the role of AI-enabled tools in enhancing learning delivery and the importance of focusing on individual behaviours, motivations, and capacities for change.

ReSPA's presence was notably marked by the involvement of its Director, Maja Handjiska Trendafilova in moderating a panel during this session. The Director's moderation facilitated a deep dive into innovative learning methodologies, fostering an exchange of best practices among participants. This session allowed for the identification of emerging best practices and provided opportunities for schools to collaborate on developing and implementing transformative learning strategies.

The event provided a platform for ReSPA to showcase its commitment to public sector innovation and to contribute to the discourse on public administration reforms. The discussions and collaborations at the meeting underscore ReSPA's role in advancing public administration excellence in the region.
